About CoralWatch

CoralWatch is a non-profit global coral reef monitoring program initiated by researchers at the University of Queensland, Australia. Their color chart provides color reference for coral at various heath conditions (i.e., due to changes in symbiont density), providing an easy way for anyone to assess coral health and contribute data to a worldwide database.

This tool enables scientists to collect reliable information that supports effective coral reef monitoring. Volunteers from across the globe—including dive centers, scientists, school groups, and tourists—have been taking part in the program, helping to raise awareness on coral reefs, coral bleaching, and climate change.
